~ 00 Set up an Obsidian Digital Garden and Explore the Small Web

Outcome Visioning

I really enjoy learning how to learn. The PKM movement has really developed some cool tools like Obsidian. In this journey, I have found more and more information about PKM has been put behind paywalls. I understand why people want to do this, but it runs against the grain of what I think has been cool about the internet all these years. Without judging anyone, I am thinking I want to share what I am learning about PKM and share it freely.

Idea Dump

As I have worked on developing my thinking on Obsidian, I have over time created a work flow of an Inbox, to Zettlekasten, to PARA, to an Outbox. I am thinking some of the stuff that I put into the Outbox just might be shareable into the public domain. With a few clicks of a mouse, new and emerging tools can take what I have written in Obsidian and put them on the internet in a website.

Obsidian Publish is an option that I could probably set up in a half an hour, but comes at a price of $8/month. If I pay a monthly fee, I will be inclined to put it on Obsidian Sync instead. I am finding it more and more sketchy to use iCloud to sync my vault, but the good news is that I do very little on my devices except for the occasional look up of a page. When I refresh my iPad this year and buy a keyboard for this, this may change. But for now, being largely local in my usecase on my laptop, means that this is not worth me spending $80 a year.
